SOUTHWEST STORIES

I bought this book from Sagebrush Books in New Mexico. A handsome large size paperback, it features about a dozen stories realating to the American Southwest and the people there. It turned out to be better than I expected, with an introduction by Barbara Kingsolver and stories by Edward Abbey, Larry McMurtry, Carl Jung, Sam Shepard and of course, HST. The HST bit is an excerpt from FLLV, from Part One where HST approaches Las Vegas and has "Kill the Head and the Body will Die" written in his notebook. Sagebrush said they still had quite a few copies left, and if you would like one, you can email them. Published by Chronicle Books in San Francisco, it was probably a smaller printing than say, with a larger publishing house.
